Influence of pulsed TIG welding process parameters on the mechanical characteristics of AA5083 with AA6082 weldments

Abstract Aluminium alloys have been widely accepted in manufacturing lightweight materials with high strength. Therefore, welding aluminium is essential industrial applications to attain complex shapes. In the present work, AA5083 and AA6082 dissimilar were welded using pulsed tungsten inert gas (PTIG) since PTIG reduces defects more than TIG welding. But get better mechanical strength on weld joints, process parameters must be optimized. During welding, peak current, pulse frequency, speed chosen as input parameters, ultimate tensile (UTS) microhardness measured output responses current investigation. The UTS of AA5083-AA6082 was predicted an empirical relationship. For design experimental trials, a three-variable, five-stage central composite adopted. findings indicate that impacts most, followed by frequency has least impact. 197 A, 4.9 Hz, 181 mm min −1 identified optimal values. hardness analysis optimized samples showed lowest values 40 50 Hv0.5 highest value 90 100 observed HAZ side weldment.
